NEW YORK CITY – CUNY students call for a protest picket on the afternoon of Monday, June 25 outside the regular meeting of the CUNY Board of Trustees, when the Board will give massive pay raises to CUNY administrators, including a quarter-million dollar pay raise (54%) to Chancellor Goldstein.

CUNY is denying admission to more and more Black and Latino students based on its so-called rising "academic standards," while Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business was recently caught fixing the grades of failing students who work for Wall Street firms. CUNY uses one set of "academic standards" to deny admission to working-class Black and Latino students and fudges another set of "academic standards" for Wall Street executives whose tuition is paid for by their firms. Despite these twin scandals, the paper-pushing non-producing parasites on the Board are planning to congratulate administrators with outrageous salary increases on June 25.

The percentage of Black students in the freshmen classes of Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Hunter and Queens dropped from 17% in 2001 to 10% today. The percentage of Latino students in the freshmen classes of these schools dropped from 22% in 2008 to 19% today. For reference, 32% of NYC public school students are Black and 40% are Latino.

There is declining Black and Latino freshmen enrollment at the CUNY senior colleges. There is also declining enrollment of Black and Latino transfer students at the senior colleges. CUNY ended Open Admissions in the ‘90s and now they want to completely wipe out the access won for all working-class people by militant Black and Puerto Rican students through the 1969 Strike.* CUNY is pushing out the Black and Latino communities of NYC. It is participating in the educational genocide against Black and Latino people perpetrated by the entire US school system.

At the same time, Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business was recently exposed for faking the grades of students in its master's degree programs who work as mid-level executives at Wall Street firms, in order continue pocketing their fat tuition checks of $45,000 to $70,000.

While all of this is going on, the Board of Trustees plans to massively RAISE THE SALARIES of CUNY administrators on June 25. The Board will give Chancellor Goldstein a pay raise of a quarter-million dollars (54%). It will give other administrators pay-raises of up to a hundred-thousand dollars, ranging from 22% to 41%. The decadent, wealthy parasites on the Board and in the administration do not even try to hide their self-indulgence.

Join us on June 25 to protest against these outrages!

STOP THE EDUCATIONAL GENOCIDE AGAINST BLACK & LATINO YOUTH!
GUARANTEED ADMISSION AT EVERY CUNY SCHOOL!
ABOLISH THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES!
